Green Mountain
Hillary Allen’s story of perseverance through pain, disappointment and heartbreak.
An "Everesting" involves repeating the same segment until you reach an elevation gain equivalent to the height of Mount Everest: 29,032 feet. Typically, it's done on a bike. However, Hillary Allen was training to accomplish it on foot, running up and down a 1.9-mile trail on Green Mountain. This trail holds special significance in the Boulder, Colorado community and is particularly meaningful for Hillary; it's where she first delved into trail running and where she relearned to run after a 150-foot fall off a cliff in Norway just a few years ago, which resulted in broken bones in her legs and back. The "Everesting" was meant to be a celebration of recovery, but unfortunately Hillary found herself back in the hospital once again.
A broken foot disrupted Hillary’s attempt, but her story embodies perseverance. While "Everesting" Green Mountain had to be postponed, she set her sights on a new goal: to recover and run to the top just once. Pursuing this new objective pushed her boundaries and uncovered profound lessons about herself.
